Did you buy a block of rubber specially for this purpose or could you use any material you have at hand to start? (I.e. an old eraser thats pretty big but you never use, a piece of wood - the carving would be more difficult but the same principle?)
I did buy a block of speedball rubber for this, however I definitely encourage you to experiment with what you have! I've carved erasers in the past and they work perfectly. I've never done a wood carving, but I know it is possible- you just might need sharper tools than the ones you use for rubber. :)
